  • Energy

What are PT100, PT500 and PT1000 sensors?

PT100 and pt10000 sensors are considered the most rugged and common form of a RTD (resistance temperature detector) and have a resistance of 100 ohms Ω) whilst the PT1000 have a resistance of 1000Ω. PT500 are a rare type of PRT and have a resistance of 500Ω.

How do Platinum resistance thermometers work?

Platinum resistance thermometers work by measuring accurate changes in electrical resistance when the temperature changes. The resistance is measured by when a current is passed through it and the voltage is measured using a suitable voltmeter. The voltage reading is then converted into temperature with the aid of calibration equipment.
