HFBR-0508Z Series Fibre Optic Transmitters and Receivers

The HFBR-x5x8Z family, from Avago Technologies, are a part of the Versatile Link series. This family consists of the HFBR-1528Z fibre optic transmitter and the HFBR-2528Z fibre optic receiver.
The HFBR-1528Z transmitter is a plastic housing containing a LED, designed to efficiently couple power into 200μm diameter Hard Clad Silica (HCS) and 1mm diameter plastic optical fibre (POF). The HFBR-2528Z receiver utilises a PIN detector and digital output IC compatible with CMOS and TTL logic families.
The HFBR-x5x8Z series links operate from DC to 10MBd at distances up to 50m (with 1mm POF) and 500m (with 200μm HCS). Minimum link distances are not required when using recommended circuits.
Versatile Link series components can be interlocked (N-plexed). This allows the user to minimize space and provide dual connections with the duplex connectors.
The HFBR-x5x8Z series are suitable for a variety of applications including; industrial control and factory automation, serial field buses and high voltage isolation.

Features of the HFBR-x5x8Z series:
- Data transmission at signal rates of DC to 10MBd
- 1mm POF: up to 50m distances
- 200μm HCS: up to 500m distances
- Link distances specified for variations in temperature, power supply and fibre attenuation
- DC coupled receiver with CMOS/TTL output
- Pulse width distortion (PWD) controlled to limit distortion from low duty cycle or burst mode data
- High noise immunity
